They answered the questions. I got my answer and that was the end of it.
I was looking for a new installation of a shower. They do not do that; they only install shower tubs.

Verified ReviewerDo not use for shower renovation
I am a widowed senior citizen who is recovering from dual hip replacements. I had to have my shower replaced due to the fact that it had a step-up, and my physical therapy would not clear me to use that shower after my surgery.
I contracted with them for nearly $16,000; they sent subcontractors, as they do not have regular employees doing their work. These two men broke my hot water line, causing 5000 gallons of water to come out of my house onto my neighbor's property, leaving me without hot water for over five days, and costing me an additional $6000 in repairs. They told me it was not their problem since it was not directly in the shower. I had to hire a company to find the leak, another to repair it.
The company who repaired it said the leak was a direct result of the shower renovation. American Standard had me send paperwork, bills, and emails to two separate divisions of their company; in essence, they gave me the runaround. After all that work that I, a senior citizen, using a walker because of hip replacements, had to do, they denied my request for remuneration for the additional money. After reading reviews on other sites from other people, I realize I made a big mistake in choosing this company.
I am sending this out so you will think twice about using American Standard for any shower renovation. They are totally unscrupulous.

Verified ReviewerAmerican standard toilet Haven't heard back from you
I purchased 2 toilets approximately 2 years ago and they never flush properly. I've tried everything, from chemicals to using a snake, but it doesn't flush properly. It works fine if you pour a glass of water while you flush.
Preferred solution: Either replace or send new flushing mechanism inside, whatever it takes to work properly.

Verified Reviewer | Yorba Linda, CaliforniaAmerican Sub Standard Does not pay their sub contractors
Subcontractors used for installation are not being paid in a timely manner, i.e., over 8 weeks to get paid even though they have to pay the same day for their helpers. Also, if an issue comes up, they decline payment altogether. I think that it is illegal to not pay someone for their work, especially when it is a manufacturer's defect.

Verified Reviewer | Tucson, ArizonaI want job fixed or all my money back
I haven't been able to get the poorly installed, new, large shower replacement, which cost over $14,000, properly fixed, replaced, or reimbursed from American Standard Home Services. They refuse to contact me.
Even though repairs aimed at fixing all the problems were attempted, I still don't have the refitted shower that I was promised and paid for.
What I've had are visits from incompetent individuals who did little or nothing and left, assuring me everything was fine. What I still have is a faulty water valve; a shower pan that doesn't fit; walls that don't seal with the shower pan, which will lead to leaking and mold; and so on.
User's recommendation: Beware!!!
Trying to remedy tub and hand shower leak issue.
I called w the number your page had posted. I was very pleased w the young lady who answered, understood my issue the first time, and asked for a photo to find the correct part for the tub.
By the way, a local high end plumbing sales / decor and repair Id already contacted three times basically dismissed me , but were still polite. However , when I had a male friend call. He said I wouldnt listen. When it was actually the other way around.
The problem was exactly what I thought it was although the other place in town ( rural area so an hours drive ( one way ) to ask someone to make for me was impossible) .
The support at American Standard was above what I expected. She not only emailed me back, but also called. As a courtesy, she sent the parts I needed Now to get the tub faucet to let go ! I was not asking for free anything, but answers.
I got so much more and was treated w respect the entire time. I'd already reviewed lots of the same issues however w moen and delta having the issue knew that was the problem however, until you can have a man call locally, its hard to get another man to listen. That wasnt a problem at American Standard who by all accounts after viewing so many videos has superior cartridges over my other baths moen lifetime warranty which is plastic on the inside! American standard parts are still brass.
Usually, a good soak in lime if you have hard water , you can reuse sink faucets w replacing washers and top caps. Most hardware stores carry these parts. w I kept replacing entire cartridge ( 30.00 each ) until I started watching videos. You only need new washers and top caps normally.
So , do yourself a favor. If you dont know the issue bf you call for a repairman. Try asking Siri for you tube videos explaining the issue/ manufacture. Or just Call the manufacturer first, who also sent me the complete schematic set up for future use.
But , I was absolutely relieved I didnt get taken, and later insulted when on speaker stated : I wouldnt listen. Yes, I did ! He didnt. Because I was correct, I just needed someone to listen, and American standard had excellent customer service for someone who had an issue &health issues to make it a compound issue!
I cant just have laymen in my home due to health risk w my lungs. Just very happy and thankful American standard is a company I know when I do remodel,I will def buy their items over others after viewing plastic cartridges from other well known names w high end prices. But mostly Ill buy again bc of the customer service I received. Lexi was outstanding !
She listened, and it WAS the part I thought it was - bc of age the entire set is discontinued but, I needed only the parts only anyway ! I just didnt realize it was leaking bc it was so small but, wondered why the tub was staining, and she offered recommendations on that as well !
User's recommendation: American Standard has the best customer service !
American Sub-standard would be a better name
The easiest way to sum it up is that this company makes substandard products. We replaced two toilets in our house, and while at the hardware store, we fell for the AS in-store demonstration with ping-pong balls.
We bought one toilet we intended to buy and we got an American Standard. A few weeks after the installs, we loved the competitor's toilet and were irritated with the AS. A year later, we absolutely hate the AS toilet and most of us avoid that bathroom because their commitment to using less water means a toilet that barely flushes, usually takes a few flushes to get the crud down the drain, and a company that won't do anything to replace or repair because there's technically nothing wrong with the toilet.
So...in their efforts to make a water-conservation-friendly toilet, they made a piece of junk that requires more water in the three flushes than a regular toilet uses with a single flush. I suppose if I was pooping ping-pong balls, this toilet might be great, but for everything else that goes in there, this is a truly useless fixture, and we'll definitely be replacing it once we get enough money saved up to replace it with ANYTHING else that isn't made by this company.
- Cheaper than toto
- It requires multiple flushes to get anything down
User's recommendation: DO. NOT. BUY. AMERICAN (SUB)STANDARD.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Poor installation, poor service
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.
That was two weeks ago and they said contractor would call and come back to do a repair. No contractor called. After calling the service center 8 times and getting the runaround they said they would find a new contractor. They never called.
Poor installation, poor service. Ive been calling 855-225-**** since the shelves came down and have been getting a run around. Theyre the ones that tell me a contractor Wii call within a day and it never happens.
Theyre the ones that tell me a supervisor is unavailable. They have been no help

Verified ReviewerI was misled about my water heater being of sufficient size for a walk in tub.
I purchased a walk in tub on Dec.12, 2023, and the company installed it on Feb. 21, 2024.
I have used it once, and could only fill it up to barely above the seat before running out of hot water. It was not a pleasant experience to say the least. I was told at the time of purchase that my 50 gallon water heater met the standard for the tub, and the heater is only 18 months old. This was obviously a lie, and I am certain the salesman, Jeff Cox, knew it.
If I had known this would happen I wouldn't have bought the tub, and I'm sure he was aware of that also. I wish I had just kept my old tub and used a lift for my upcoming surgery. Now I will have to get a bigger water heater or have the tub removed and replaced with a traditional tub, and I am leaning toward the latter. I talked to 4 different customer service people from A.S.
today and was basically told I'm *** out of luck. If the salesman had leveled with me in the first place I wouldn't be in this damn mess. I may have to go through my upcoming surgery with no useable tub for which I paid almost $24000.00 dollars. Pissed doesn't begin to cover it.
Thanks for nothing A.S.
I hope you enjoyed your profit from this sale that has made my life so miserable. Sylvia Dingbaum

About
American Standard Brands was formed in February of 2008 as the result of the merger of 3 companies: American Standard Americas, Crane Plumbing, and Eljer. Before American Standard, there was the Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company, founded in 1875. Standard Sanitary pioneered many of the plumbing product improvements introduced in the early part of this century including the one-piece toilet, built-in tubs, combination faucets (which mix hot and cold water to deliver tempered water) and tarnish-proof, corrosion-proof chrome finishes for brass fittings.
By 1929, American Standard had become the world's largest producer of bathroom fixtures. The company offers a broad range of bath and kitchen products.
American Standard is ranked 77 out of 335 in Pools, Spas and Plumbing Supplies category

All these water saving products just do not do the job!! Whenever we buy new appliances, I request first of all, that it is NOT the most energy effecient!
Have had to replace too many that are highly energy efficient, refrigerators, washing machines, toilets! Enough is enough.
